For over 15 years we have been helping individuals, corporations and grant seeking and grant awarding non-profit organizations achieve their vision of making a difference through philanthropy.
We believe that philanthropy (grant awarding and grant seeking) is a relationship business built on joint interest, trust and achieving shared desired outcomes. It is about people who care sharing their capability with people who have the ability to make things happen. The Slater Group’s Foundation Services are designed to enhance the experience, relationship and satisfaction obtained from making a difference through philanthropy.
We realize that the number of non-profit organizations has significantly increased within the past few years and with the wealth generation and transfer that is taking place, the growth will continue. Many individuals, families and corporations desire to make a difference by leaving a legacy of philanthropy. We have experience in working with family foundations and in preparing family members to serve as future board members. Many are looking for ways to teach their family or corporate members how to be philanthropist without incurring the cost of maintaining a fulltime foundation office and staff.
Often family members and/or foundation board members are located throughout the United States and the world. The expense, time and safety related to traveling and conducting foundation meetings often overshadow the purpose of having the meetings. We eliminate most of the challenges related to pre-planning and preparation and conducting foundation meetings and provide our services where and when you choose to meet.
Small non-profit organizations often do not have the resources or expertise to provide the types of foundation and philanthropic services necessary to grow and expand. Providing for the consistency and continuity of services from year to year is critical for success with donors, applicants and volunteers. The budgets of many non-profit organizations are too small to support a full time staff and to provide comprehensive services. Our team members are experienced former development officers who have been responsible for all aspects of philanthropy. The Slater Group provides comprehensive foundation services that can be customized to the organizations size, budget and needs.
If you wish to outsource your complete foundation office or fundraising functions, we can provide a lock and key operation including office space, mailing address, IRS reporting, applicant/donor support services, prospect and donor records, prospect research, marketing, accounting services and staffing. We will serve as your Executive Director for your foundation and make sure that your instructions are followed.
If you are thinking about creating a foundation, we can assist in the planning, creation and operation of your foundation. We provide all the services related to the formation and operation of a foundation that is responsible and responsive to you.
We provide all the services needed for grant awarding and grant seeking foundations. If you are in need of specific services to supplement and complement your foundation, The Slater Group will customize services to meet the unique needs of individuals, families, corporations, foundations, religious organizations, community and public organizations and existing foundation offices.
The Slater Group will provide a professionally staffed office that serves as the central location for all communication and inquires. We will evaluate and rate applications, make recommendations, follow up on awards and grant recipients. Other services we provide include:
Financial Advisors
We work with legal, accounting, banking, insurance, financial planners and advisors, financial investment institutions, trust offices, and others to supplement their services and to meet their clients’ philanthropic visions. We work as an extension of their services. This allows clients to continue working with the people they have developed a trusting and productive relationship and expand their philanthropic impact and vision. However, should the need arise, The Slater Group can provide financial and legal specialists to assist clients.
Confidentiality and Security
We are a private company that is not subject to open meetings and open records laws or other public information disclosure laws. We do not publish, mix or share our confidential client information or allow access to it by anyone other than our staff and the individuals who are the official representatives of the owners of the information. We do not provide information to anyone without official authorization from the owners of the information. The Slater Group considers it an honor to serve as stewards of your information, identity, and confidence.
We can provide access to your donor/prospect/applicant information electronically 24X7. With proper identification and password, you can view your records and information any time of the day or night anywhere in the world.
IRS 501-c-3 Foundation
The Slater Group is in the process of creating an Internal Revenue Service classified 501-c-3 nonprofit organization to serve as a repository for donor directed and donor assisted accounts. This would provide immediate access to a trusted, reputable, and IRS approved foundation. Our goal is to eliminate the wait, cost, and issues related to forming and maintaining your foundation. A volunteer board consisting of a cross section of philanthropic leaders will make sure that the unique wishes of each donor are followed. It will also serve as a central place for information and applications to be received.
The foundation will also serve those organizations who wish to conduct fundraising campaigns, but do not have the IRS 501-c-3 classification. We will provide professional fundraising counsel and all the front and back office operations for your organization and its fundraising campaigns.
